The Impellers

A 9 piece funk soul band with four-piece heavy horn section, screaming Hammond organ, pounding drums and bass and the massive true-soul vocal of Lady Clair, whose voice was compared to Lyn Collins by Nick Van Gelder (Jamiroquai).

The Impellers bring a heavy heavy authentic funk sound both live and in the studio. Starting life as Ed Meme & The Forms, a name change came about when offered a deal by prolific UK label Freestyle Records in 2008. The Impellers have recently received radio play and much positive feedback plus a lot of exposure across Europe.

The debut album, provisionally entitled ‘Robot Legs’, will be dropping on Freestyle Records in Summer ’09. With gigs at the Marlborough Jazz festival and Beachdown in the wings this band are going places.
