The Baskets
<< back

The Baskets are a Brighton based ceilidh collective of experienced musicians who have been playing together on the folk music scene (and beyond) for many years, in a variety of shapes and traditions.
With a pool of skilled instrumentalists (guitar, fiddle, concertina, banjo, flute, mandolin, double bass and drums) and charismatic dance callers, The Baskets can tailor-make the most appropriate band for any occasion. Offering a bespoke service they will create the sound and atmosphere of choice from private party to large stage venue or event.
The Baskets can deliver Traditional Ceilidh (English, Irish, American) or their original Twisted Ceilidh which ranges from Kicking Country (with female vocalist) to their infamous Gangsta Ceilidh (sold out Brighton Festival Fringe- “Everybody dance and no-one gets hurt”).
Artistes in the collective include:
Ben Paley “Just about the best folk fiddle player of his generation,” Folk Roots Magazine
Tab Hunter (flat-picker and accompanist) “Masterly” Sussex Folk Diary
“A Truly Class Act,” Rock and Reel
Mandy Murray, expert concertina player, (All Ireland champion)
Matt Goorney, guitar, banjo, ukulele (met the devil on the cross roads)
Tim Cotterell, fiddle (improvisational genius)
Felix (whip-slapping double bass)
