Ska Toons

“It’s a big sound, and as infectious as flu. You’ll smile, then you’ll start tapping your foot. Before long, you’ll probably be skanking along.” Viva Lewes
Ska Toons is a Brighton-based eight-piece jazz-ska outfit inspired by the likes of The Skatalites, Jazz Jamaica, Miles Davis and James Brown.
A tight, punchy mix of rocksteady, old-skool ska, funk and jazz, Ska Toons are great for dancing and guaranteed to put a smile on the face of... well, anyone, really.
Ska Toons are very much an old-school ska band. This doesn’t mean they just do ska classics: they also give the ska treatment to jazz standards and classic pop; Charlie Mingus’ Fables of Faubus, Charlie Parker’s Barbados and Glenn Campbell’s Wichita Lineman all get ska -ed up along with great old-skool ska faves like Guns of Navarone, The Liquidator, Occupation and Mission Impossible.
"I just had my 50th birthday party and the choice of music was quite simple .... I had to have Ska Toons to play. They are my favourite get-up-and-dance music makers without which no significant birthday would be complete. I love the band and the music as much as I did at the first gig I ever went to all those years ago... .. Life affirming, fun and talented. "Book'em Danno!"
Thanks for a great night’s entertainment last night, you created a fantastic atmosphere. We want to confirm you for our wedding too- it will really help make our wedding reception something special.”
“a huge thank you from me and from all of our very sweaty and enthusiastic dancing guests for playing brilliant music. You really made the evening and everyone had a blast!”
'You guys were great! It was so good to see young and old dancing
together! I wish I could get you out to Boston!'
