Matt Goorney
<< back
Using voice, guitar and slide, and harmonica, as well as banjo and ukulele, and drawing inspiration from the blues greats, Matt Goorney can conjure up a whole band and breathes new life into the blues...
A popular live attraction from Europe to his adopted home town
of Brighton,England, Matt presents a solo acoustic roots show.
Drawing inspiration from the blues greats- Robert Johnson,Lightin'
Hopkins,Jimmy Reed and the like,he makes it feel powerfully
relevant today.
Having played rock, jazz, folk, funk and even bluegrass banjo
from an early age-including countless gigs, recordings and
playing to thousands on the festival circuit,Matt has
adopted the acoustic blues style as the most direct means
of expression. However,he also likes to spread his wings at
times with the addition of a powerhouse drummer. Alternatively,
a raunchy female singer adds a twist to a sophisticated jazz
and blues duo,and he enjoys combining his talents with that
of a fiddle player and other folk musicians for irish sessions
and celidhs,and a soulful,funky big band.
Whatever the format- communication is all; never happier than
in front of an audience, his energy, humour and enthusiasm for
his art delights and entertains audiences-whether it be a concert
hall, pub, club or special occasion, wherever he plays.
