Ising on the Cake
<< back
Ising On The Cake is Sharon Elizabeth’s unique one-woman show where she promises her audience a slap-up feast of music, comedy and cooking.
Sharon Elizabeth has combined her earlier career as a bakery manager for top Sussex cake company Kate’s Cakes with her singing talents to create a tasty theatrical show that has led her quite literally to “cook up a storm” all over New Zealand and the UK .
Accompanied by her Kitchen Sink Trio under the musical direction of Brighton- based composer Paul Lewis, Sharon Elizabeth will mix a decadent chocolate fudge cake onstage amid red feather boas and retro props while telling her culinary and musical history and singing some great classics and original songs.
Finally you are treated to a gorgeous cake slice and a cuppa before being entertained even further by the domestic goddess diva with a bonus cabaret performance.
Songs range from musical comedy to grand opera and everything inbetween!
Reviews
“Tales about her childhood, falling in love and growing fat from eating too much chocolate cake giving the show its humour and honest, heart-warming feel...A show that has proved to be a recipe to success”
(Hauraki Herald, New Zealand 07)
“You really have to see this to get a feel for the Sharon Elizabeth experience. She has a fine voice, excellent sense of humour, and she works the crowd in the same deft way that she stirs her chocolate batter. And the cake is... ......to die for.” (The Waikato Times, Hamilton Gardens Summer Festival, New Zealand 07)
“Multi –tasking at its best, Sharon Elizabeth impressed us with both her singing and cake-making abilities. Styled on the domestic goddess of the 1950s – imagine a singing Nigella Lawson!” The Brighton Evening Argus, Brighton Fringe Festival, UK 08
“Night rich in song, laughs and cake... Her names, she confides, were her mother’s salute to movie actresses Sharon Tate and Elizabeth Taylor. Here’s betting neither could bake a cake while keeping a traditionally blasé Rotorua audience begging for the crumbs from an onstage kitchen table.” Rotorua Arts Festival, Rotorua Post, New Zealand 09
