Ben Sarfas Quartet

Ben Sarfas is a gifted musician who wows audiences with his jazz fusion and funk gigs on the violin and saxophone. From the tender age of 6 Ben embarked upon his musical journey with the violin. He took up the saxophone at the age of 11 and became more influenced by jazz and fusion music.
By 15 Ben was spotted by a local fusion bassist franc o'shea, who took him under his wing and introduced him to the jazz scene. He began playing with professional musicians around Brighton and the south coast such as Tristan Banks and Dave Trigwell. By 16 Ben played his first London gig at the 606 jazz club with Franc O'Shea's quintet featuring young jazz musician of the year- Tom Cawley(piano), young jazz musician of the year- Gareth Lochrane(flute) and Tristan Banks on drums.
Since then Ben has been involved with many different projects and sessions around Brighton including flamenco (Candela)-Womad 2005, gospel/jazz (Viola Wills)-Ronnie Scotts 2004, world fusion playing with indian tabla player Sirish Kumar, Psy-Trance (Supersting).
Ben recently went to Granada, Spain to record on Franc O'Shea's new release 'Alkimia' featuring world class flamenco musicians; Rubem Dantes(cajon), Jorge Pardo(flute), Canizares(guitar). He has recently completed the motion picture sound track for forthcoming local film 'Brighton Wok'.
Ben is now working with his own jazz quartet, The Ben Sarfas Quartet, fusing many styles such as drum and bass, funk, jazz and soul. This features guest vocalist and younger brother Sammy Sarfas, with Tristan Banks(drums), Mark Edwards(Keys) and Andre Fry on bass.
